Ahhhhhh dissent.....

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."~ Harry S. Truman

Comments:
So....when does the Bush admin. start repressing or attacking the opposition? Michael Moore not only is free to spout off, he's not been "silenced" or shot.

No one else who hates the president or the GOP - including that guy with the sign ever has the least offensive thing done to them....so where's the beef?

Unless of course Leftists consider people who merely beg to differ with them to be "persecuting" them!

It's insane to claim Bush is a dictator and the GOP is the Nazis and that the poor Democrats are being persecuted when in reality, zero evidence of dictatorship, national socialist worker's party activities and zero sign of real persecution occurs.

Since 9/11, there have been reports of:

People being arrested for protesting Bush

People's cars being vandalized for have anti-Bush stickers on them (this mentality to do this type of crap is coming from Bush and the rest of the fascists in our country)

People's cars being vandalized for having a Kerry/Edwards stickers on them

People being arrested at the House of Representatives for wearing a t-shirt of the war dead and a t-shirt with a 'support the troops' logo on it

FBI infiltrating peace group meetings by pretending to be a liberal so he/she can listen in to the opposition

People being put in 'cages' 2 miles from where the president is to speak

People losing their jobs because it was found that they were a democrat/liberal/anti-Bush

Hints of a dictatorship:

January/February 2001, Bush starts spying on American's phone calls (especially his political opposition)

May of 2001, Bush take's America's signature of the International Criminal Court so any war crime that he commits or his military beneath him commits won't be tried.

52 warnings that a major attack is coming to our nation and he ignored all of them. He did this because he needed a Pearl Harbor-like attack to get into Iraq. Dictators do this crap to get what they want.

750+ signing statements Bush has signed so he doesn't have to go by our laws. He and his Attorney General's office define the Constitution and the Bill of Rights using their own whacked ideologies (typical of a dictatorship). They make up their own laws.

Using our voting system to do a soft coup of our nation.

Using our military to illegally invade and occupy a SOVEREIGN nation. Only dictators do that.

Provided an Executive Order that allows the phone companies to LIE to Congress about their role in Bush's illegal surveillance of Americans. (Again, ignoring the laws of our country and siding with corporations instead of the people of the country)

Outing a CIA operative during a time of war for revenge against a person whose husband did not agree with the Dictatorship's stance on the war.

Using the FBI to storm the offices of a black, democratic House Representative because the person is of the opposite political party. Corrupt individuals of the dictator's own party do not get their offices stormed.

No transparency under Bush

Rendering the Congress as useless which is the first major step to turn any democracy into a dictatorship!

Control of one major media outlet: Fox News to catapult the propaganda to the viewers and to our troops overseas.

So, there you have it. There's more too and I will post as I think of them.

Yeah, when Bush came here 2 years ago, there was a 'free speech zone' on the other side of the Idaho Center where Bush was speaking and entering. In fact, no one was allowed 'up front'. Sooo - people protested on the sidewalk and the public right-of-way.

And Wordsmith? Don't you think it's a little ironic and hypocritical for Bush to be telling Putin that he must allow the opposition to be able to come down to the town square and speak their mind? I think so!!!

One good thing? Putin is not stupid when it comes to Bush. He just listens, rolls his eyes, and then waves bye-bye to him. You know, kind like us Americans do!
