My thoughts on the upcoming 4th of July celebration...

My son and I will be attending a huge bash on the 4th at my friend Katie and her husband's place near the ocean. But, again, this year I will feel sadness.
My grandmother passed away at the age of 93 right after 9/11/01 and on her deathbed she feared for all of us because she didn't trust Bush to lead our country down the right path. In fact, starting in 1980, she started loathing the republicans in this country moreso than any time in her life. A lot of her feelings had to do with Bush Sr. She didn't trust him nor did she trust anyone connected to him. Anyway, my grandmother was extremely patriotic and loved her country more than anything (her parents came directly to Ellis Island from Norway, Europe) and she talked about our country to all of us grandkids our whole lives. She instilled in us what patriotism means. She was very poor throughout her life and at the end of her life didn't have enough money to buy a coffin to bury herself. All of her belongings were left out on my mother's bed for the family to sift through and take what they wanted after her graveside service. I took one thing and it is a set of costume earrings and a pin in the shape of the American flag. She wore these every year on the 4th for as long as I can remember (I'm 38). The jewels are fake but it doesn't matter. She loved them and wore them with a great fire in her and with great pride. When she wore them, she meant it to be a reminder of what a democracy feels like and for everyone to take pride in what our country means. She was thankful for the 'freedom fighters' from long ago.
Well, this year, I will AGAIN wear her American flag pin on my blouse at this year's 4th of July bash, but I will feel a sense of solemn. Since her death in 2001, this pin's meaning has faded because of what Bush and his Swines have done to our freedoms but I'm still going to wear it because my grandmother's fire is still in me! She would want me and others to fight for our great country and what our forefathers fought for!
She wants us to...I can feel it. Her Spirit is telling me to not give up.
Have a wonderful day on the 4th but don't forget we love our country more than the imbeciles in the White House and we will fight to the end to take their totalitarian fascist grasp off our country! When you see an American flag hanging out this weekend, rise your fist up to it in solidarity and remember the significance of it. If you can't do that right now because of how you're feeling, I say, burn a US flag to let other Americans know your discontent.

Comments:
My mom died from lung cancer in August of 01. Besides loosing my job in September of that year and 9/11, I found out my mom had cancer, so September was a triple whammy for me. Now for a revelation from www.waynemadsenreport.com :
July 1, 2006 -- A former top Defense Department official has told WMR that he fears the Bush administration will pull off another "911" before the November election. The official stated that the next 911 will be used as a pretext for shipping U.S. citizens of Middle East descent to mass detention camps, establish martial law, impose strict censorship, and finally eliminate the power of the Congress and the Supreme Court over the president. "The next 911 will be much more like the Reichstag fire in terms of creating a dictatorship," said the official.

Have a Nice Fourth, Kay! It may well be the last this country celebrates.

Please excuse my error. My mom Died in August of 02.

Bill, I'm sorry about your Mom. Cancer is so devastating and tragic at the same time. Keep her memory alive by talking about her!

Well, I'm not surprised that Bush and his Swines are planning another 9/11. I've been saying that they would enforce Martial Law at some point and what better time to do it than before the next presidential election! The bastards want to win at all costs and don't care if they have to take a bunch of OTHER Americans to achieve it! Winning is all that matters to them. What a pathetic way to live. This could be why they never apologize for mistakes they've made because in their mind they win all the time and losing would make them have to learn from these mistakes! They're atrocious. Everything they do is atrocious.

Have a wonderful 4th of July too Bill! I'll be thinking of you and all my other Patriots that I so enjoy.
