Quote of the day....

“America wasn’t founded as a theocracy,” he said. “America was founded by people trying to escape theocracies. Never in history have we had a Christian theocracy where it wasn’t bloody and barbaric. That’s why our Constitution wisely put in a separation of church and state." ~ Evangelical Reverend Gregory A. Boyd remark on why he wouldn't give his church parishoners his blessing to push politics by backing George Bush's agenda and by backing the republican party's stance on the social issues in our country.

Comments:
But it's just fine for DEMOCRATS to ROUTINELY show up in Black Baptist churches and get endorsements from "Reverends" such as Jesse and Al...and no such "theocracy" talk is heard! You people are so transparently hypocritical it's breathtaking.

It's OK for the Dems to get endorsements - FROM THE PULPIT - but the moment some conservative merely suggests it's good to vote one's conscience, you suddenly fear 'theocracy'./

Uh, excuse me moron? Don't you think it's a little weird that these Evangelicals who call themselves 'good Christians' are endorsing George "Wiretap" Bush because he is killing people? That's why this Rev. wouldn't back him.

WHEN A CHURCH BACKS A DEMOCRAT IS IT BECAUSE THE DEMOCRAT IS STARTING FAKE WARS TO LINE THE POCKETS OF HIS CORPORATE SWINES OR IS IT BECAUSE THE CANDIDATE IS FOR PEACE?

Think about it moron! Try not to hurt yourself when you do!!!!

Then you acknowledge the double standard - you are claiming that it's OK FOR CHURCHES TO ENDORSE POLITICIANS FROM THE PULPIT, provided the Politicians are DEMOCRAT.

That's the double-standard hypocrisy. That's my point. You missed it.

I agree with you btw, that EVERYONE ought to have 'freedom of speech, INCLUDING CLERGY.

But it's the Left's hypocrisy that's the point: when Black Pastors endorse Clinton ON LIVE TV, the ACLU and the IRS do NOTHING AT ALL...but the moment a conservative pastor

Bill Clinton's abortion policy killed far more people than Bush's GOT has, far an order of magnitude.

Let's also look at Clinton's foreign policy: Thousands of POOR HAITIANS died thanks to Clinton's "economic embargo" in 1993. 2,000+ Somalian's died because of Clinton's ill-fated "raid" in down-town Mogodishu in 1993.

Thanks to Bill "let's do nothing while claiming good intentions" Clinton, 800,000 Rwandan's DIED in the genocide.... and he did exactly NOTHING.

From 1993 to 2000, Muslim terrorists killed hundreds of Americans and THOUSANDS of foreigners around the world and at home, and Clinton's response was to bomb an asparin factory, bomb some sheep and act like all was OK.

George Bush has killed thousands of Iraqis and is now in the process of backing Israel in their killings! What's your point?

Funny how YOUR PARTY hated Bill Clinton FOR DOING ANYTHING WHEN IT CAME TO THE RWANDANS!!!!!!! OR THE SOMALIANS!!!!!!!!!! You're a hypocrite just like your Fuehrer's party.

And since you're blaming Clinton for everything that occured under his tenure, I WILL CONTINUE TO BLAME BUSH FOR DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY, FOR DESTROYING OUR REPUTATION IN THE WORLD, FOR STEALING OUR TREASURY, FOR STARTING FAKE WARS TO LINE THE POCKETS OF HIS CORPORATE WHORES, AND FOR KILLING THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 OR THE WAR ON TERROR!

Who are you going to blame for the years of 2001-2009? The people of Madagascar? Idiot.

I hope more democrat church leaders start funding the party to the point that the republican pukes and faints! I'm against that type of funding, but if it will piss you off......THEN I'M ALL FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why? Because I hate you and your party.

Let's not forget too that your party didn't like the idea of Clinton wanting to do something about the world's affairs. Now? The same party IS INVOLVED IN NATION BUILDING AND IN BOSSING AROUND THE PLANET! Yup, they're "spreading democracy" because suddenly they're the party "that cares". Idiot.

I think you've cornered the market on hatred. I don't hate democrats or liberals. I pity them and hope to convert them! Hatred is such a destructive emotion.

The GOP didn't hate Clinton "no matter what" - not true. The President is in charge of foreign policy, period. In Rwanda, he chose not to get involved - and let's remember the timeline here: the civil war broke out on April 7th, 1994 - before the US election that November that ousted the Democrats... so Clinton presided over a House and Senate RUN BY DEMOCRATS... and still he chose to do NOTHING.

So even IF the GOP hated him and didn't want him to do anything, he had the DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CONGRESS ON HIS SIDE! He could have stopped the genocide! The News Media (before Fox!) would have OKed it. They loved him.

Bush hasn't killed 800,000 people, and definately most of the Iraqis and Afghani civilians who have died in the last 3 years have died at the hands of the Taliban, Al Qaeda or other muslim terrorists, NOT the USA. We're not the ones intentionally targetting civilians.

Now take a breath and stop hating for a bit. Hatred is bad for you. It blinds you to the humanity of other people and closes your mind - makes you a 'close-minded' person incapable of learning anything from people.
