Oh, how I would love to see this someday....
It'll be a great day when education gets all the money it wants and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy bombers. ~Author unknown, quoted in "You Said a Mouthful" edited by Ronald D. Fuchs

The only schools selling baked goods to get ahead are the PRIVATE ONES. Schools get funded by...wait for it...taxes on real estate! and the Lotto...and general funds in county, towns, city, state and federal budgets!
There are billions of dollars available to kids in grants, both non-profit and government subsidies... to say nothing about loans and loan-guarantees....

So, what you're saying is that rich kids are having to hold bake sales so they can attend private school and because their parents can't afford it? ARE YOU ON FREAKING CRACK?
I'm starting to think that all neocon Bush supporting trolls are definately on crack!!!!!!!!! Time to do a mandatory drug test pronto!
You're insane.

No, I'm saying parents who want to save their kids from failing public schools, aren't rich enough to afford the tuition (teachers need to be paid, buildings need to be rented or mortgages paid for) so they hold bake sales and other fund raisers to raise the funds to give their kids a decent education THAT'S NOT AVAILABLE IN MANY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
It's NOT FAIR that everyone with kids gets taxed but then no one has control over the public schools except Federal bureaucrats. So the local parents have no say in the curriculum, in the discipline, in the school policies, in how their kids are treated or protected or what they're exposed to.
Parents DO HAVE THE RIGHT to educate their children or send them to schools that they deem good for them.... but they get zero public dollars to exercise this right - meanwhile women get Title X federal dollars to "exercise their right to choose" abortion.
Hypocrisy. Some "personal rights" are protected and funded via tax dollars while others aren't. Welcome to liberal double standards.

That's funny.....SENATOR OLYMPIA SNOWE OF MAINE GRADUATED FROM LEWISTON HIGH SCHOOL WHICH IS A PUBLIC SCHOOL!
Interesting how stupid your theory is. All schools can teach an education but it is up to the parents to enforce it at home. Rich kids on the other hand grow up to believe that a beautiful school that is expensive to attend is the only way to get one! Sorry pal...not the case.
Here in Maine we have very exclusive private schools (many celebrities send their children to them plus our colleges) and I've never seen any of them hold a bake sale so they can buy their text books!
