An American has been charged with treason
Adam Gadahn, 28, who grew up in California and who converted to Islam at the age of 17 while living there, has been charged with treason by our government because of his current ties to al-Qaida.
What I find so fascinating about the whole case is that Gadahn moved to Pakistan in 1999 which was way before 9/11/01 even happened. Apparently this kid spent much of his time praying in mosques while in America during the mid to late 1990's and then in 1999, he moved to Pakistan. It's not known whether he went there to join al-Qaida or if he decided to go there under the assumption that he could continue his spiritual quest and then got caught up with al-Qaida. There are videos that surfaced after 9/11 that shows him denouncing America.
I guess what is bothering me is I don't see where he has committed treason. Yes, Gadahn is currently with one of our enemies and is denouncing us...but...he made a decision a long time ago (way before 9/11) to move overseas and practice his religion there and he doesn't seem to anxious to ever come back here from what I can see! What I'm trying to say is as Americans we can make choices for ourselves. This kid decided to convert to Islam, practiced it wholeheartedly, moved to Pakistan in 1999, has had very little, if any, contact with his American family, and is now part of a group who hates America. Is our government telling us that as Americans we can never move overseas and denounce our government especially if our intention is to never come back and live here? If he loved our country so much and still considers himself an American, don't you think he would have come back by now?
Am I being naive? Gadahn hates America and there is no law against that. There is no evidence that he has plotted against us either, except for these videos he appears on but he's talking about known al-Qaida attacks that have already happened. He's commenting about the attacks and as far as I've read there is no proof that he is part of these plots against us.
The penalty for treason is death and the only way for that to happen is if Adam Gadahn decides to come back to America to face his charges. The FBI and our government can't find him at the moment, which tells me, he doesn't want to be found, meaning...Gadahn has made his choice about which country he holds in high honor.
Definition of 'treason' from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary:
Does Gagahn have allegiance to America at this moment or has his allegiance been for the past 11 years to Islam and the country of Pakistan? I bet if Gadahn was asked this question he would say Pakistan.
To me, Gagahn hasn't committed treason, but rather, has made some personal choices that myself and my government don't agree with, but because he started his life as an American, he had the power to make choices about his life. He's made his choice alright. Oh boy.
What do you all think about this?!!! Has he committed treason?

How many more Americans are secretly helping the enemy because of Bush and his arrogance?
There is probably alot more than one.

Larry, I was trying to find it last night and I'm not sure what document it is a part of (the National Intelligence Estimate maybe), but it was stated by our government that there are CURRENTLY 76 terror cells in our country at the moment!!!
If our government knows this, then why the hell aren't they honing in on them and arresting them for treason if they're Americans?
As usual, whatever makes sense our government does the opposite of!!! They'll terrorize this kid's family until the cows come home and won't go after the real threats to our nation!!!
It makes me so angry I could spit. Spit.
