The "Jesus Freaks" have shut down the "Jesus Camp"

I have no problem with anyone in this country practicing their religion. It's a freedom we all have and if we want...we don't have to practice or believe in religion either. However, there are some who take their religion over the edge and they end up hurting others or end up being the exact opposite of what they preach (Ted Haggard leader of the Evangelicals is a prime example).

The documentary "Jesus Camp" that ran awhile back I thought was a scary reflection of how religion can be creepy and dangerous. In this film, little children are seen going up to complete strangers and preaching the Lord or calling people sinners or whatever. That's child abuse if you ask me because a normal 5 year old would never act like that! These little kids are doing adult things and I find it to be perverted to say the least. This movie is a very good example of how religion can go wrong or can be destructive to one's psyche.

Well, the Jesus Camp has been shut down and was shut down the day after the November mid-term election! The woman who runs the summer camp said that the place had been broken into recently and because of the reaction of this film, she doesn't feel safe anymore there. Interesting, huh? I'm thinking the way over the top religious righters in this country are realizing that they're not wanted around now. The fact that Karl Rove calls these people "the nuts" is proof that even the nuts at the top think they're nuts, so shutting the place down was the right move!

Is this a "win" for America? I think it is. I think it's time we clean up the religious sector in this country by weeding out those who take it to the extreme. I have no problem with small towns or cities gathering each week to pray with each other and to use life's examples to get their messages across, but when adults start brainwashing children into doing stuff that make them look like "little Devils" by spewing hateful language to people they've never met before, it's time to rethink religion!

Comments:
i saw that jesus camp video..

it shocked me.. to see those little kids touching bush like he was a god, and crying and talking about sin.. it almost made me cry.

religion isnt for kids... its not for adults either.

That's right Chris. It's for responsible people!!! What the hell. I'm glad to see that this "camp" is now closed even if it's because it's under a huge amount of fear. I think now is the time for these weirdos to take a good long look of their lives and make some changes. They can practice their religion but they have to do it in a reasonable way.

I cried too Chris. It's appauling.
