Robert Gates originally helped Osama bin Laden

From DailyKos:

Robert Gates Promoted and Financed Osama Bin Laden
by LondonYank

Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 12:45:40 AM PST

Robert Gates made Osama Bin Laden what he is today. This is not exaggeration. By funding Osama Bin Laden's operations, training camps, weaponry and political influence from 1979 (even before Russia invaded Afghanistan), Robert Gates personally gave us our principal enemy in the "War on Terror".

More frighteningly, all of Robert Gates' support to Osama Bin Laden ran through Pakistan's ISI. ISI has been linked to training and funding the 9/11 bombers, the London bombers, the Madrid bombers, the Bali bombers and the Delhi bombers but is strangely immune from official Washington scrutiny.

I really wonder which side Robert Gates thinks he's on. With a 30 year history of pomoting and financing state and non-state terrorism, I doubt it is the side of the peace and prosperity of the American people and bringing our troops home safe.
I've said for many years that Bush Sr. has always been connected to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida and I've always believed that al-Qaida is a Bush family death squad used to catapult their global domination agenda and to use them to control the world's markets for their own profit and gain. I've never believed the Bush family story that Osama bin Laden was the blacksheep of the family. They just want us to believe that to remove any connection they have (and Osama's family has) to him.

Remember when Clinton became president the first time in 1992 and about 30 days later 'al-Qaida' tried to blow up the World Trade Centers? Well, I believe Bush Sr. was pissed off and outraged that he lost that race, so he had his death squad come in to try to make Clinton's administration look bad. It backfired, of course, because Clinton had the 5 guys involved arrested and jailed where they remain today. Bush Sr. never once during his presidency mentioned 'Osama bin Laden' to our nation but he knew full well who he was (the families have been friends for at least 30 years) and what group he was the head of! I spit on him.

September 11, 2001 was the same thing. The 19 hijackers were allowed to live in our country for years and go undetected (though one observant woman at one of the flight schools called and alerted the FBI that one of the hijackers was taking lessons...but the FBI ignored the call and did nothing). Someone was financing them and I think Osama may have but the money to house them wasn't always electronically transfered to our country. I believe, to escape detection by authorities, it was brought over here via boat or private planes and given to the Bush family friends to be given to the hijackers under the table.

So, it's not surprising to me that Robert Gates, who was recently brought in by Bush Sr. to help his son out, has been nominated to replace Donald Rumsfeld and is back again. The Bush family has their friends who would do anything for them. They're loyal to the Bushies and because of that loyalty many get jobs in high places and guys like Osama get to continue to roam the planet (if he didn't die years ago and his image is just being used by Bush Sr.'s CIA to brainwash the masses) free from prison after killing 3000 Americans on September 11th!!

It's so insane.

Stupid said;

Btw, how does it feel to be used and lied to by your glorious leaders?

How does it feel after Abramoff, delay, Ney, Harris, Rove, Cunningham, Haggard, Foley,Chertoff, Brownie, Hastert, Pombo, Rumsfeld, Cheney and the Idiot in Chief Et Al fucked you up the ass repeatedly the last 6 years son?

Bin Laden was on the CIA payroll under the Reagan/Bush years and he provided little information to justify his hige payout.

Reagan/Bush/Bush are nothing more than financial fronts for the conglomerate of terrorists that want our demise.

You've been duped for 6 years Hal, so how does that feel?

The hearings will happen and they'll be televised. America will get to see how all these guys are nothing but a bunch of criminals. Following the money (if they can find the trail because they've done everything under the table with no paper trail) is going to be scary.

Americans will disgusted more now than we have been and that will just ducky for me!!!!

America hates your party too Hal. Your whackos were voted out on election day while the rest sided with liberals, democrats, and rational republicans.

Ha ha. :-)

No one can convince me that al-Qaida is NOT an extension of the Bush Crime Family & Friends. This group seems to help out the Bush family & friends moreso than not.

The End.

Oh, and Hal? How come you haven't been on AMERICAblog since the election? Hiding from us? Too many Americans reading that blog so you come to the smaller blogs so only a few Americans can point and laugh at you? I bet! Coward!!!!!

Stupid is as stupid does, hally boy proves that over and over again, son this was THE FIRST election son, the old white evangelicals are not what you need for the future, you need the growing minorities your side continually pisses on, and the under 30 crowd is decidedly democratic, so ENJOY the ever shrinking minority of the Greedy Odd Pervert(GOP) party.

BTW numbnuts, Rove turned out to be a real math WIZ didn't he son.

Son, I am old enough to KNOW better, and old enough to have served 13 years in the military including desert Storm before I was disabled, you old enough to serve?

BTW son make me.....

Clif, thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

How about yours son?

When did you serve?

Come on Hal old buddy, just a couple old vets talking late at night, you can tell me, when did you serve?

Clif, old buddy old pal, never said I served, never said I was a vet.

Well are you of age to sign up?

Clif, I'm old enough to be your older brother son.

So why did you NOT serve son if your old enough?

I am a bit older than you think son, I was given a commission as one of the oldest Lieutenants in the Army at that time.

So your probably a bit younger than me son.

But do tell me why you have Chosen NOT to serve in a war when you seem to think it so important?

See son when I first enlisted I was a Vietnam era vet, went to college on the Vietnam era GI bill, and ended up getting a commission out of Graduate school.

But why haven't you ever served?

Defending this nation seems important to you, why haven't you defended it son?

Not drafted son..volunteered, then college after my enlisted period, and then service that ended with disability from Desert Storm

Given a full college career which resulted in two graduate degrees, it adds up time wise, BUT you have failed to answer why YOU failed to defend this country if YOU think it SO important.

Come on son, you can tell US here.

Come on Hally Boy, tell us all why, if defending the good ole USA is so important, you never did it.

I mean liberals Like John Kerry did it.

Max Cleland did it.

Bobby Muller did it.

John Murtha did it.

James Webb did it with style and grace,

so son why have YOU not done the deed?

I'm sure you have a GOOD reason for letting others defend the country IN YOUR place, right son?

Service in the 21970's and late 80's and early 90's son, with college in between, no lie necessary, I already told YOU I served in the Vietnam ear...NOT Vietnam son, get your reading glasses on son.

There is a BIG difference....the time frame from the end of the Vietnam era to the beginning of the Desert Storm era is exactly 15 years son, and put enough time in for college along with a masters degree and you have over.

My 13 years of service combined with my college time is 22 years. Far more than enough to cover the gap your twisting your brain around at this moment, but why have YOU failed to answer MY question of why YOU never offered to serve the country you seem to think is so important to defend?

Don't have a GOOD reason for NEVER serving son?

Do you think you're better than everyone who didn't serve?

Not better, just can NOT stand arrogant assholes like YOU who lack the balls to do what you ask others to do IN YOUR PLACE.

Goodnight son.

Later loser, enjoy your gutless life.

See son you view of the world is NOT the same as the reality other have lived, IT is easy to have thirteen years of service and nine years of college between 1975..the END of the Vietnam era and 1990 the beginning of Desert Storm.

Bet YOU never knew the official dates did you son?

Your way too fast to assume because you are not as honest as you want others to think you are....we here are exactly just LIKE you son, but that is not the case...we do NOT need to spin reality to defend our position.

NO story LOSER, just service...college and service....22 years in all son, not hard if you try.

Poor poor hally boy, too gutless to serve, and can not add up the years from 1975 until 1990, and realizes way too late he is being outed by a vet who KNOWS a chicken hawk when he smells one online.

Have a nice GUTLESS life loser.

BTW son you opinion of me is meaning less to me, but I already got you goat tonight.

so suck on that son.

Your posts got angry when you realized your being outed for lacking the balls to sign up and serve this country you seem to think is SO IMPORTANT.

Too bad you failed to uphold your OWN beliefs.

Typical chicken hawk gutless hypocrite repug assclown, who'd a thought there were so many of you fooles.

Not quite as arrogant as when you began posting eh son?

BTW is the voting for the HOUSE leadership in the majority something to be ashamed of?

Or is Failing to uphold the beliefs you seem to profess.

Don't go away MAD Hally boy, JUST go away.

I know God loves me son, but your assclown entrance is why I decided to ride you like the gutless little repug Bitch you are son.

And I for ONE never takes orders from gutless little repug bitches.

BTW gutless you WERE leaving a while ago, can't accept the fact YOUR a gutless chicken hawk son?

You want to come into a BLOG and arrogantly crow, well eat some LOSER.

Your not all you pretend to be, and your the ONE who failed to live up to what YOU spout hiding behind YOUR keyboard like all the other 102nd gutless chicken hawk brigade trolls do.

What is a chickenhawk? Oh yeah, that's right, a chickenhawk is one who says, "I'm all for Bush's fake war/occupation in Iraq! I love it! We are going to win! It's the best war in the history of America!", and then someone comes along and says, "Hey Hal, since you are all for it, why don't you sign up and fight it or send your children over there to fight to prove your patriotism and love of country?", to which the chickenhawks like Hal will always say:

"UH NO. NO THANK YOU. I LOVE THE WAR BUT I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT IT. I DON'T LOVE IT THAT MUCH. I WAS ONLY KIDDING WHEN I SAID I LOVED IT AND SUPPORT IT WHOLEHEARTEDLY"

Clif, Hal is a typical chickenhawk. You know that I value your service to our nation!! Anyone who joins the military voluntarily and has to fight a war in the middle of that service are the true heroes of our nation!!

Our soldiers don't decide on which war will be fought. Our leaders do. Currently, our soldiers are fighting an illegal occupation of a soveriegn nation which is lining the pockets of their Commander-in-Chief's friends and family! How embarrassing! I feel for our soldiers because at some point in the future they will look back and will be disgusted with themselves. It's not their fault but that is how a soldier feels.

Hal, you wouldn't know about that kind of thinking, now would you? YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE YOU LIKE THE IDEA OF OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS FIGHTING THIS ATROCIOUS AND IMMORAL WAR!!!!

You're anti-American Hal. You suck.

KayinMaine, I love it when you talk dirty to me.

Hally Boy, your not signing up yet son.

You do not need dirty talk, you need basic training son.

But before that you need the testicular fortitude to sign up.

That's right Clif. Nothing would smarten ole Hal's ass up than a few weeks of basic training! I have this feeling that Hal couldn't handle it for the same reason why he loves Bush's war but doesn't want to actually physically support it. He's a coward and a chicken. He stands for nothing.

The End.

Very good of you to get it back on topic Kay, after a certain person sidetracked it with his rants. Seeing how I went to college on the GI bill following the Civil War era, and then fought heroically during World War I, you would think certain people who proclaim their love for the troops would enlist as human shields, go to Iraq, and act as sweeps for IEDs.
Clif?

Seeing as I was EOD son, commanded a unit during Desert Storm, cleared part of the valley of death north of Kuwait city on the highway to Basra.

It's like I've already been there and done that son.

But a Gutless assclown probably wouldn't know that would they son?

And numbnuts you hijacked the thread the second comment moron, so blow it out of your as with Kenny Melhman's sperm.

C'mon Clif. Why aren't you over there looking for IEDs and acting as a human shield, taking sniper fire meant for US troops, if you support the troops as much as you say you do? Tell us, ol' buddy, why aren't you over there?

Don't you support the troops Clif? Step up son, and put your money where the sperms at. lol

I've already been there BOZO, not hiding in some closet waiting for Kenny Melhman to call.

BTW son even my older daughter has served there, so YOU are the gutless one here.

WHEN you gonna grow some balls son?

Clif, you sound a little homophobic. Don't ask, don't tell. Just go, if you support the troops as much as you say you do. They could use your experience. Do it for the troops. Take one for the team. Step up old buddy.

Bottom line troll, YOU HAVE NOT STEPPED UP TO WALK THE WALK, YOUR BIG MOUTH TALKS.

I have

So your gutless.

End of story, until you sign up son.

Typical gutless chicken hawk, telling OTHERS to go fight the war HE hawks for, ..

you just proved MY point gutless.....

You tell me a 100% disabled combat vet to go fight a war your too gutless to go fight yourself.

Point taken, thank you for proving MY point son.

Clif, thank your daughter for her service and her sacrifice.

How about YOUR service son?

Instead of thanking OTHERS for going IN YOUR PLACE, when you gonna belly up to the bar, and SERVE yourself son?

I know the answer, because IF you had any intention of being anything but a big mouth gutless troll you would have already been there and NOT questioning the service of veterans here.

So, who's serving in YOUR place Clif, besides YOUR daughter?

Thank God you were never captured Clif. You seem like the kind who would spill all after a couple of indian rope burns. LOL

Nobody son I served in Desert Storm STUPID, medically discharged from the US Army, 100% disabled.

I served in combat, you have not even served in uniform numbnuts.

Why not?

Whose side did you fight for in the Civil War Clif?

Clif, what unit were you with during Desert Storm?

Your comments are funny coming from a gutless troll you has never had the guts to serve.

Bet you let your women do your fighting here don't ya son?

Sorry son, given the nature of EOD units, giving you my unit is like giving you my name and home address. NOT quite that dumb.

Given some wingnuts like to mail letters and other stupid things that would not be wise for my family.

Suffice it to say I served in Arcent

BTW son why have YOU never answered the question I keep asking, why if defending this country is SO important you have never enlisted?

Do not have a good EXCUSE?

Like Rush's , or Dicky dead eye's or the rest of the chicken hawks I listed.

BTW Hally Boy is this TRUE?

KayInMaine said...

Chris, Hal is hiding out on our small blogs because he's too embarrassed to go on AMERICAblog. Why? He has made an ass out of himself for quite some time now and was so sure his Regime was going to steal another election and stay in power. Hal can't show his face there anymore. He dug the hole and kept digging. Awwwwwww, how cute.

Were you SO STUPID you thought the lying, corrupt, child predator protector, repugs were gonna win big again?

Bhawawhawahwawahwawwhaha,

No wonder you never signed up, you so stupid you can't pass the entrance exam.

ROTFLMAO

Kay invite your Americablog friends over to chat with gutless Hal.

He enjoys making a foole out of himself, as he has here.

How does it feel to be the second stupidest human in the US, next to The Idiot in Chief that is.

Clif, most Americans think this country is worth defending. Don't you? Your logic is skewed.

I defended this country son, YOU did not. SO who's actions do not match their words, and BTW Saddam was not the enemy who Attacked the US on 9-11, Osama was, and Bush ET AL allowed Osama to escape to have the troops to commit to a losing war in Iraq.

And it is painfully apparent to anybody who has served and understands fourth generation warfare, that we can NOT force the majority of that country to aqueous to OUR will.

See counter insurgency when the vast majority of the country is against you, and the "formal" government is hiding inside a protected zone of the occupying forces means it basically is over.

But Just Like Nixon before him Bush can not admit defeat.....especially after claiming mission accomplished years before it was NOT.

See Hally boy, when Ronald McDumsfeld decided HE knew more than the military leadership who had spent their entire lives learning and practicing the art of warfare, he LOST.

Gen Shinseki was RIGHT we needed 3-400,000 troops to control Iraq after Saddam was toppled, and they NEEDED a well articulated phase four plan for the follow on to combat operations.

You know WIN THE PEACE.

The Army war college did a study in Feb 2003 which could have been the blue print for it. but Dumsfeld refused to even allow anybody to PLAN, then Kate O'Berns husband sent political hacks to do jobs which experts should have been sent in to do.

L Paul Bremers disbanding the Military and gutting the civil service meant the TINY CPA was trying to do the job many times their number did before the invasion, and the people before the invasion SPOKE the language.

This FIASCO will be studied for decades for WHAT not TO DO.

And Bush, Cheney Dumsfeld will be known for screwing it all up.

Hal whether you KNOW it or NOT Iraq was NOT a hot bed of anti American terrorism, Pakistan, and Afghanistan were, with Saudi "wohabbi" money to fund it.

Knowledge of the region and historical understanding of the Hatred between Osama and saddam would help you to understand why invading Iraq was about the dumbest thing they could have done.

Read Juan Coles BLOG

Read Larry Johnson's Blog

Read Pat Langs Blog,

read the OLDER archives and you might begin to see just how colossal the blunder they made in 2003 really is.

It is NOT really your fault if you listened to Fox Lies corp for your news, they are way OUT in La La land as far as the reality on the ground militarily is concerned.

Try reading from PEOPLE who have spent most of their LIVES studing the areas they speak about, and NOT the daily talking points.

And realize if you approach this WITH an open mind, you will have many of your cherished assumptions challenged. Your whole world view might even begin to feel threatened, but working through it, you can understand what is really happening and WHY.

And the WHY is where we need to begin, NOT the latest talking points to score a political point for the day, or election cycle.

Here is the majority of Juan Coles Blog for today...

The Shiite-dominated government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for Shaikh Harith al-Dhari, the leader of the Association of Muslim Scholars and a major Sunni Arab clerical figure. Al-Dhari in opinion polling is among the most popular Sunni figures in the country. The AMS, which he heads, has been accused of having strong links to the guerrilla groups, including the 1920 Revolution Brigades. This arrest warrant, coming after the attack by Interior Ministry Special Police Commandos on the Sunni-led Ministry of Higher Education and recent kidnappings by the Sunni Arab guerrilla groups of Shiites-- all this activity points to a war among Iraq's major parties, many of whom have parts of the government under their control.

I was sent a copy of an Arabic fatwa by the Association of Muslim Scholars that said that since so many Sunni families had been forced out of Shiite neighborhoods into "our" neighborhoods, and since there was no way to house them, these Sunni Arab refugees should be put up in the homes of Shiite families who had fled Sunni neighborhoods. I guess the implication might have been to encourage an ethnic cleansing of Shiites in largely Sunni neighborhoods, so as to free up housing for internall displaced Sunnis.

Minister of Higher Education Abd Dhiyab al-Ujayli said Thursday that he had heard reports that torture and the breaking of limbs had been inflicted on the some 70 hostages still being held from Tuesday's kidnapping of 140 persons from the ministry building in Karrada, Baghdad. The government of PM Nuri al-Maliki maintains that 40 were kidnapped and only 5 remained hostages.

The comparison that leapt into my mind at this prospect of a cabinet minister so at odds with his own prime minister was to Kabul in 1995. Then, the prime minister, Gulbuddin Hikmatyar, fought a destructive battle for control of the Afghan capital against the forces of the president, Burhanuddin Rabbani. Much of the city was destroyed and an estimated 60,000 were killed. The Sunni-Shiite battle within the government (and without)is wreaking destruction on a similar scale, though the buildings in Baghdad have not been hit so hard because the opposing militias cannot fight set piece battles as long as the US military is there.

Al-Hayat reports in Arabic that a Sunni Arab leader of the Iraqi Accord Front, Adnan Dulaimi, asked the Sunni world for help in stopping Iranian interference in Iraq, "lest Baghdad become a capital for the Safavids." He spoke at a commemoration in Amman of the centenary of the birth of Hasan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. Dulaimi's party, the Iraqi Islamic Party, part of the IAF coalition, is a direct descendant of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, which established a branch in Mosul in the 1930s. The Safavids were the Iranian Shiite dynasty that pushed Iranians to convert to Shiisma from 1501 forward. The Safavids actually did rule Baghdad 1508-1534 and again in the late 1500s and early 1600s under Shah Abbas. They were succeeded by the Sunni Ottoman Empire, which favored the Sunni Arab population and so made it an elite, something George W. Bush tried to undo. The Sunnis are not going quietly. When the Ottomans took back over from Shah Abbas in the 1600s, they mounted investigations and persecutions of the Iraqi Arab Shiites, whom they coded as "acem" or Qizilbash, i.e. as Safavid Iranians. That is, Dulaimi's rhetoric in Amman has a pedigree going back at least to the Ottoman Empire in the 1500s and 1600s. But it is important to note that in the 20th century, Sunni-Shiite violence in Iraq was rare, and Iraqi national identity grew in strength.

CIA Director Michael Hayden gave testimony that strikes me as refreshingly frank on Thursday. In fact, it is ironic that the supposedly public and straightforward politicians and cabinet members, such as Cheney and Rice, mostly retail fairy tales to the US public. But the chief of the country's clandestine intelligence agency? He's telling it like it is. He revealed that daily attacks in Iraq are up from 70 in January to 100 last spring after the Samarra bombing, and then to 180 a day last month. He also said that there were only 1300 foreign al-Qaeda volunteers fighting in Iraq, whereas the Sunni Arab guerrilla movement was "in the low tens of thousands" strong. If there are 40,000 guerrillas, then "al-Qaeda" is only 3.25 percent of the "insurgency." That is why Dick Cheney's and other's Chicken Little talk about al-Qaeda taking over Sunni Arab Iraq is overblown, at least at the moment. Most Iraqi fundamentalists are Salafis, which is a different sort of movement than al-Qaeda. And the Baathists and ex-military and tribal cells cannot be disregarded by any means

Hal the simplest way to look at IRAQ today is to think about OUR civil war, and having the British army occupying the nation, and forcing the federal government to be split between the union forces and confederate forces, who are killing each other daily, BTW the union and confederates are intermingled more than they were, And the Indians of the plains have decided to break away and form their own state because neither the union or confederate can stop them at the time.

What would YOU have done in THAT situation if you were a union or confederate citizen?

NOW think what the Iraqi people . Shiite, Sunni, and Kurds are attempting to do.

Do you have another Republican here Cliff, the typical Republican who loves war, but only for others to fight?

Yes

I guess they have to go somewhere since their kind won't talk to them.

Kay says this ONE made a foole out of himself over at Americablog so is HIDING in here for now.

Too bad he has to HIDE his shame here.

There are a lot of trolls who are hiding out, look at what Tiny,dusty-bruno-mr mackey-mcmikey-wufuss and the foole did at Lydia's place, especially the days after the GOP jolt back to reality.

At least Dolty Boy held in there.

Although all of them are too gutless to actually sign up and serve.

For some reason they think it is OUR job to serve in their place, even those of us who have already served in combat before.

Maybe we should go invite his ex-friends over here to chat with the recluse.

Repugs don't want to serve, they want others to serve them.

Bush and Cheney are prime examples of not serving but demanding everyone else does.

GO for it, I'm sure Hal misses his OLD friends from Americablog and would like them to come and visit.

I mean it must be LONELY being the lone lost repug neo-con troll hiding on a liberal blog too ashamed to show his face on the blog he crowed for months about how big the repugs were gonna win.

Maybe he could find Condi's blog. He sounds like he is probably in to fashion.

After all Condi and Haley are both clueless about foreign policy, but most Repugs are great in fashion.

I'm sure Hal would like his old friends to come HERE and tell him that he should not feel too sad for being dumb as Rove about this election, and making a total ass out of himself.

They will offer words of encouragement to get Hal to face up to his delusional thinking, and accept reality.

The repug lie and spin cycle of election slime is OVER and they were found wanting.

So Hal need to face reality, or he will make an ASS out of himself in 208, like he did in 2006.

I'm sure all Hal's friends want to help him out.

Thats presst bad to get kicked off a blog by his friends.

Howard must be a real prize.

I do not think they "kicked" him off, he "cut and ran" in shame for his blusterous predictions about the election, which NO incumbent Democrat LOST a seat, but the repugs lost 29 house seats, 6 senate seats, and 6 governors houses.

That IS a lot of being wrong there.

He sounds like a few other trolls from a blog we both know that can't predict the shoe size of an ant.

Yes they all seem to been cut from the same MOLD and then only half baked.

I wonder if this one has a dozen different handles like that other loser?

Not so far here, he has stuck with the one he has, not the one he wants us to believe in, after all Hal has been OUTED as not knowing very much at all.

I wonder if Howard claims to hail from Canada like that other trollecon.

Not yet, but he has never given a GOOD reason for not signing up to defend the country, after all it is what he thinks is so important to do.

He attacks me for MY service, mocks it, but has NO answer as to WHY he never has.

Here is the gambit, that BUSH has already lost;

Iraq Turns Up The Heat

By now, anyone with a lick of sense can see that the war in Iraq has been a dead-loss. Still, few people understand how it has disrupted the region’s strategic balance and is quickening America’s decline as a world power.

The US is already facing fierce headwinds in the near future with the deflating housing market, the falling dollar, and the growing prospects of a deep recession. A sudden realignment in the Middle East would be a major hit to the American economy. Even so, it’s looking more and more like big changes are on the way.

The problem is that American power is waning just as Iran’s is ascendant. This doesn’t bode well for the “Great Satan” whose economy relies on dependable sources of cheap oil.

Iran is playing a clever game in Iraq using US occupation forces to crush the Ba’athist-led resistance while expanding their influence via the Shiite militias. This is a “lose-lose” situation for the United States. American troops must continue to focus on one enemy while they inadvertently strengthen the other. How long will it be before the Bush administration sees that they’ve been supporting the very group which is most hostile to American interests?

The smarter strategy would have been to replace Saddam but leave the Ba’ath Party in power. That way civil services and government bureaucracy could have continued without radical changes to the entire system. The Bush plan was the fast-track to anarchy, a phenomenon which now grips the entire country. Undoubtedly, the veteran-diplomats in James Baker’s “Iraq Study Group” will want to engage the leaders of the Iraqi resistance as a last-ditch effort to cobble together a coalition government and stem the violence. But time is running out.

The mass kidnapping of 150 employees at the Education Ministry shows that the Shiite militias in the Interior Ministry are getting more brazen by the day. The gunmen stormed the building in broad daylight wearing government-issue uniforms and abducted their victims without a struggle. Prime Minister al-Maliki offered a feeble defense of the kidnappers saying that it was “not an act of terrorism” but merely a dispute between competing militias.

Al-Maliki has clearly cast his lot with his Shiite base.

While the militias do not take their orders directly from Tehran, it’s clear that there’s a tacit agreement between the two and their objectives are nearly identical. Both are determined to defeat the Sunni-led resistance so that the Ba’ath Party can never return to power. The mass abductions show that they are moving as quickly as possible to execute their strategy.

The US military has fallen into a trap and is (unwittingly) helping Iran expand its influence. In fact, Bush’s plan to increase troop-strength by 20,000 in Baghdad just makes it easier for the militias to operate. The heavy American presence on the streets and checkpoints forces the Sunni resistance to remain underground while the Shiite militias conduct their round-ups and raids with complete impunity. It’s no wonder they’ve stepped up operations in recent weeks. The talk of an American withdrawal following the midterms has only increased their determination to crush the resistance while American troops still provide cover.

Who could have imagined that US forces would be acting as security guards for Iranian-backed militias?

In fact, members of the Iranian political establishment like Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh are now openly calling “for the US to REMAIN in Iraq until it has established a strong, stable central government capable of providing adequate security.” (Kim Murphy LA Times)

Of course, Iranians have to be discreet in their support for the ongoing occupation, but the truth is obvious; Bush is laying the groundwork for a fundamentalist regime in Baghdad by quashing the secular, Ba’athist-backed resistance.

Does Bush really believe he can control a Shiite-dominated government? Or does he really understand what’s going on?

Can’t he see that the US-Shiite alliance is simply a “marriage of convenience” that will end as soon as the Sunnis are sufficiently weakened and there is no longer a threat of them returning to power?

The Baker group was formed as a last-gasp attempt to avert the greatest foreign policy train-wreck in American history. It’s no surprise that Bush and Israeli PM Olmert decided to conduct their high-level meetings on the same day that the Iraq Study Group met in the Oval Office. It was clearly meant to subvert Baker’s impact on the news-cycle. As soon as Bush had used Baker as a prop for his public relations photo-op (showing Bush’s “openness to new ideas”) the ex-diplomats were bundled out the servants’ exit so Bush could put the final touches on the plans for bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The whole event was perfectly choreographed to marginalize Baker and undermine the group’s recommendations.

This just proves that Bush’s throttling in the midterm elections has had no effect whatsoever. He’s still firmly in Cheney’s clutches and edging ever-closer to Armageddon. There’s no indication that anything substantial has changed.

Cheney’s approach is fundamentally flawed. It will take more than laser-guided munitions or “bunker busting” bombs to beat Iran. In fact, that will only speed up America’s inevitable withdrawal from Iraq. Even if half of Iran is buried beneath glowing-nuclear rubble, they still have the wherewithal to take out every oil tanker, every oil field, every oil depot, every oil-platform, and every oil pipeline in the entire gulf region. How long will America’s teetering economy persist with its Middle East arteries slashed and oil futures shooting through the stratosphere.

Then, of course, Iran has the option of smuggling high-tech weaponry, anti-tank missiles and the whole array of military hardware into Iraq, where they can swiftly cut off supply-lines, wreak havoc across the country, and force an American retreat.

A war against Iran is a foolhardy scheme that has no chance of succeeding.

Communiqué connects Iran to Iraqi Militias

A chilling communiqué from the Shiite-led “Badr Brigade” has appeared in Alliraqnews. The message warns of an agreement between the Sunnis and the “Anglo-American occupation forces” which threatens the continued dominance of the Shiite-led government. Leaders from the Badr Brigade” intend to intensify their attacks on all “public offices and institutions”, to “neutralize the activities of journalists, media and intellectuals”, to undermine “any attempt to rebuild the Iraqi army”, and prepare for “an armed confrontation” with the enemy.

The message calls on all Shiites, including employees in the “Ministry of Defense and Interior Ministry to join the Badr Brigade, the Mahdi Army, and the Al-Dawa Party, to continue stealing weapons and equipment” to get ready for the conflagration.

The communiqué adds ominously: “The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, providing us with all weapons and equipment for the battle, as well as the preparations of troops from the Revolutionary Guards for rapid intervention near the border areas.”

The message is signed by the Secretary-General Badr Organization.

Whether the communiqué is authentic or not is almost irrelevant. The blueprint is indistinguishable from the pattern of activity on the ground. The militias are using the occupation to strengthen their base and ready themselves for the inevitable confrontation with US forces. Behind the scenes, Iran is patiently waiting for America’s hourglass to run out of sand.

Prime Minister Al-Maliki has aligned himself with the main Shiite militias. He has issued a warrant for Harith al-Dhari, the head of Iraq’s prestigious Association of Muslim Scholars, on the charges of “inciting violence and terrorism among the Iraqi people”. It is a baseless claim intended to drive the Sunnis to out of the government and set the stage for a Shiite dominated-regime.

The Sunnis have left according to plan. There will be no coalition government and civil war is all but certain. The bloodbath has just begun.

Bush has opened Pandora’s Box and there’ll be a terrible price to pay. He has allowed Iran to take root in Baghdad and upset the regional balance of power. Now, there really are no easy solutions. The only question is whether the impending holocaust is containable or if it will consume the entire region.

The last POST goes hand in hand with this;

Iran declaring 'economic warfare'

Announces intent to move away from U.S. dollar

Iran may have signed a virtual "death warrant" by openly declaring a governmental decision to move away from the dollar in the country's foreign-exchange transactions, says WND columnist Jerome Corsi.

"The Bush administration will see Iran's decision as economic warfare, a move calculated to weaken the dollar in retaliation for the U.S. seeking U.N. Security Council sanctions against Iran's continued uranium enrichment," Corsi told WND.

Speaking to reporters at an e-commerce conference in Tehran Tuesday, Iran's Minister of Economy and Finance Davood Danesh Jaafari presented the policy as a defensive move aimed at blocking Washington's ability to monitor and interfere with Iran's conduct of international business.

"Some U.S. banks have been disrupting our dollar transactions for a long time and Iran, in return, has been decreasing its dependence on the dollar," Jaafari explained.

The U.S. Treasury in September barred Iran's state-run Bank Saderat from having any links with U.S.-owned banks because of Iran's support of terrorism.

As a result of the increasing pressure from the Bush administration, Iranian banking authorities have complained European banks are increasingly reluctant to transact Iranian import and export sales in dollars and to extend open lines of credit for Iranians in dollars, fearing U.S. penalties. Iran also is concerned the U.S. government might soon be forced to devaluate the dollar.

Corsi previously has argued Saddam Hussein "signed his death warrant" by getting the U.N. to agree Iraq could hold foreign exchange currency in Euros resulting from "oil for food" transactions.

Iran's announcement this week will be seen by Washington as a follow-up to its intention to create an oil bourse pricing oil in Euros, Corsi believes.

"With our continuing budget and trade deficits, the Bush administration has to react strongly to any suggestion that world international markets might move away from dollar transactions or dollar holdings of foreign exchange currency," he said.

The risk also includes China, Corsi noted.

"With China now holding $1 trillion in their foreign exchange currency, the recent decision that China intends to diversify their holdings more into Euros threatens the ability of the U.S. Treasury to float our budget deficits by selling U.S. government debt into the foreign exchange currency holdings market," Corsi explained.

Corsi is concerned the Bush administration has been "de-industrializing the United States" by pursuing a free trade policy that allows China to replace U.S. manufacturers with what Corsi describes as "under-market slave labor or near slave labor."

"Now with Iran on the verge of announcing the capacity to produce highly enriched and possibly weapons-grade uranium," Corsi comments, "we are increasingly vulnerable to Iran spearheading an anti-American attack on the dollar."

Corsi points out China recently signed a multi-billion dollar deal "guaranteed to make Iran one of the major suppliers of oil and natural gas to China for decades to come."

"If China joins Iran in pressuring the dollar, we face dollar devaluation much faster that the Bush administration has allowed the U.S. public to know," Corsi said.

Hal, YOU GO FUCKING SERVE IN THE MILITARY TO DEFEND YOUR PRESIDENT'S REPUTATION IN THIS GODFORESAKEN ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL OCCUPATION!

Clif has served his country and does not need a chickenhawk like yourself telling him he needs to! You love the war.....so go fucking fight it. Send your kids too. If they come back with half their faces blown off, don't come fucking crying to us!!!

(sorry, my language gets pretty bad when dealing with the trolls. be patient. it will subside once the trolls are removed from our galaxy)

Clif, everyone on AMERICAblog hates and despises Hal. They wouldn't come over here to talk to him because they hate his so much. Though, if Hal was as tough as he says he is, he would have been on AMERICAblog the day after the election, but he wasn't. He's a coward but then again...all trolls are.

Hal, my cousins Phil & Scott served in the first Persian Gulf war when Clif did. Scott was one of the boots on the ground and Phil was on an aircraft carrier in the Gulf (he currently is an airplane mechanic down in Florida at one of the big airports. This is what he was doing during this war.). What were you doing during the Persian Gulf war, Hal? Laying in bed with your head under your pillow wishing and hoping the war would go away so you wouldn't feel obligated to serve your country? I bet you were!!!!!

Sign your ass up Hal and leave the REAL SOLDIERS ON MY BLOG AND IN OUR NATION ALONE!!!!!!!!!! They don't deserve to be put down by a person who hates America but loves a dictatorship for their country.

You're hated and despised Asswipe Hal. Ha ha. Clif, Larry, and myself are not. Why? Because we love our country, are willing to defend it, and despise & hate those like yourself who worship the Hitler Reincarnate!

Bye Hal!!!!! We hate you!!!

I might add that the next time Hal's off pumping the neighbor's dog, he might be careful not to spear his brother mti in the kiester ahead of him!

These two, asshole to asshole, couldn't produce a beer fart in a whirlwind, and mti is a prodigious Moosehead guzzler with the girth of a pregnant sperm whale and the I.Q. of the most illuminated monster truck/wet T-shirt aficionado!

Hal, being the product of irradiated protozoan experiments gone horribly wrong, should not be faulted for having amorous inclinations toward various species of the barnyard persuasion. The most illustrious sheepherders got their start in just this manner, and have given us yet another use for rubber boots other than just dry receptacles for ones feet.

You're giving the cretin an audience -- just what he doesn't deserve.

Rocky sometimes you just have to HOLD up a big big mirror and make them take a long look, his reactions told me HE did not like what he saw in the mirror.

I have some time, so If I find a gutless troll chickenhawking the internet, I grab a big mirror, and let then LOOK at themselves.

BTW there is NO rule in my book to be NICE at that moment.

Nice ends when they expect another to walk into hell on earth in their place, after asking for another version of Hell on earth to begin. If they wanrt hell on earth, they have to walk it, otherwise they are gutless trolls.

Damn, you people really are possessed by the same demons as the terrorists, which is manifested by extreme hatred. You are piss-poor Americans and your service to the country is anti-American. Even veterans like John Kerry(Vietnam) and Clif(War of 1812) are condescending self-righteous pieces of shit. Just look at and listen to your pathetic selves.

Hell, even I am shitting roses and rainbows since the election of your glorious leaders, but you remain your rabid selves, spewing hatred and having fits.

And for those of you who can't read, or lack comprehension, have someone explain to you the Nov 16, 11:10:16 PM post.

And just because Clif wound up a loser, in more ways than one, doesn't mean todays troops should too. Clif needs serious help; his bitterness is eating him alive.

That is all.

Hal said:

"That is all."

Hal... does this mean we won't be taking warm showers together till the wee hours, anymore?

Not a loser son, I served in the military and went to war when asked, It is YOU son who failed to do that even though YOU ask others to do so.

Your the person who is being intellectually and MORALLY inconsistant, but from your posts here, I can see why.

You think you are exempt from the rules you expect others to follow.

Your second post is OFF topic, but you rail about others.

You LIE, but question the posts of others.

You project your emptiness and shallowness to others.

You show a lot of resentment in what YOU write. Resentment that your being exposed as the hypocrite you are, and because YOUR mad about being exposed, you try to say others are bitter about their lives.

Sorry son, I am not bitter, just have little patience with gutless scared little people like YOU, who want others to fight YOUR battles to keep YOU safe.

But your willing to lie , smear, distort what others say and ignore the facts to attempt to put the lipstick on the pig your trying to sell here, on americablog, chris in maine's blog.

No son, your the bitter LOSER, and you will have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. Enjoy son.

BTW Hally Boy, Here is Gen George S.Patton's take on your sorry ass.

BTW son, I served in Germany in the 1970's under his son, Lt Gen. George S. Patton IV, commander of VII Corps at that time.

Sure you did clif. Sure you did.

Did you see where Henry Kissinger said we could NOT win the war?

Maybe you will not have to serve after all gutless...because you stayed a gutless chicken hawk long enough, just like Vietnam before it, the course of this war may subside long before you grow a real set and use them in defense of your stated ideas of fighting this war.

You'll be in good company son, Gutless Cheney, Gutless Limpballs, Gutless Hannity, Gutless O'Liely, Gutless repugs all over the world.

Let's Go, Chickenhawks! Preempt Rangel's Draft

Congressman Charlie Rangel plans to reintroduce a bill calling for the reinstating of the draft under the banner statement: if you're prone to knee-jerking America into war again, you had better be prepared to put your hawk-ass where you hawk-beak is. Otherwise, think twice before you rah-rah another misguided armed conflict because Uncle Sam will be asking you for help. And that help will involve a bit more than slapping a yellow-ribbon magnet on your SUV before waddling downstairs to play SOCOM.

The bill's ultimate fate not withstanding, I figure while the president and Senator McCain examine more troops in Iraq, those of you who are so inclined should volunteer right now. And if you're older than 42, but you have service-aged children, bestow upon them your old W'04 bumper sticker and demand they support the war by signing up. You chickenhawks like preemption, so it's time to preempt Congressman Rangel. The links:

Enlist in the ARMY
Enlist in the MARINES
Enlist in the NAVY
Enlist in the AIR FORCE
Enlist in the COAST GUARD

Or for those of you in favor of the privatization of our military, check out the Middle Eastern job opportunities at Halliburton. This is a recommended path for those of you who can't do more than two pull-ups or more than 35 sit-ups (the minimum physical requirement for service). But at least you'll be in The Shit and, because you're so gung ho, you'll get to test your full-steam-ahead bravery while under fire -- without the assistance of wussy firearms. Who needs weapons? You're stay-the-course brave! It'll be just you, your truck and a good old fashioned two-way radio when the hajis start lobbing RPGs.

Let's go, chickenhawks. Preempt Charlie Rangel's draft. Over the next week or so, we can expect to read about a sudden jump in military recruitment primarily composed of Americans who think the Iraq War was a most excellent adventure -- but especially amongst those who don't want America to cut-and-run like all those effete San Francisco liberals.

And if the draft was somehow reinstated, I guarantee that a large percentage of chickenhawks would immediately 1) flip-flop and begin to second guess this and future wars, 2) figure out ways to attain a medical excuse or college deferment for themselves or their kids, 3) hide all of their military dress up costumes, and 4) cry.

Meanwhile, draft or not, working- and middle-class families will continue to send their sons and daughters into a war which the chickenhawks, with all their faux-patriotic sloganeering, blindly triggered without any thought given to the facts, the history, the motivations or the consequences of their words, deeds and bumper magnets. The lazy and incurious will continue to lob coward-bombs from the comfort of their computers and talk show microphones while the grunts they sent into war are maimed, tortured and killed; all so Republicans could be re-elected and so the administration's corporate associates could profit from our tax dollars and the blood of our fellow countrymen.

It's time to go long, chickenhawks. Or will you cut-and-run from the war you want so badly yet refuse to fight?

How about it HALLY BOY?
