Rumsfeld Knew It Was A Mess

Two days before Rumsfeld resigned he turned a classified memo in to the White House saying the strategy in Iraq was not working, and he said they need a major course correction.

In this New York Times article, Rumsfeld says they should cast the military mission as minimal to avoid further political fallout.

Rumsfeld even suggested a troop reduction, even though his public displays of arrogance said otherwise.

Rumsfeld even suggests shrinking the number of bases and reversing embeds where Iraqi's follow U.S soldiers.

A Pentagon spokesman confirmed to the New York Times the authenticity of the document.

Comments:
my god.. you mean.. rumsfeld.. is a liar?????

who would have imagined.. lol

Rummy probably isn't a liar, he was probably misled by the liberal media.

Isn't that the standard line?

Rumsfeld had known knowns,

Rumsfeld had unknown knowns,

Rumsfeld had known unknowns,

Rumsfeld had unknown unknowns,

what Rumsfeld did not have was,

a clue to reality.

Seems to me that Rumsfeld was trying to cover his ass before he was booted to the curb. The man could care less about the direction of the invasion/occupation. He's been in charge all this time and could very well have at any point approached Bush to strong arm him. He didn't and the timing of this memo makes me think he only produced it to cover himself especially if he's brought up for war crimes (not just in Germany but here too!).

Everything these assholes do is calculated and done to protect themselves rather than our soldiers or the American people.
