Who is really dying for Bush's "noble" occupation in Iraq?
It appears that it's not the states that contain the most neocon Bush supporters! Yup, it appears that the blue states (of course...all the states are purple right now and there are only 4 red states left at this point) have suffered the most losses. Those in the southern part of the United States aren't sacrificing as much as Bush and his lying Cabal would like you to think they are!

yeah.. however most of the military is republican..
i looked on that same site, and found a state by state breakdown.
maine has lost 13 soldiers. that saddens me greatly.

Chris from maine, I as a veteran, who has 13 years of service would disagree with your assertion that most of the military is repugs, most of the military is the low level enlisted, many of whom are economic conscripts, and not necessarily a repug at heart.
If you want to limit your "quote" to the officer corps, especially the higher ranking ones I would agree, but you have little to go on making such an assertion about the whole military.....

well clif, i found a militarytimes.com poll that was taken at the end of 2005 and of those surveyed 13% said they were democrats, 56% said they were republicans, 15% said independent, 2% said libertarian, 3% said other, and 11% declined to answer.
the numbers seem to be the same year after year.
im assuming this poll is accurate.

I agree Clif!!! I've only heard Chris from Maine (I emailed him to ask him where he gets this info too) and neocons say that the military is full of republicans. Christ, all the men in my family (including cousins & uncles and oh yeah...one female cousin) are all democrats and have served in the military.
In 2005, how many soldiers would be honest about their party affilation anyways? The republicans have made democrats out to be limp wristed gays which is not true but that is the reality of how the neocons have bruised this country!!
I hate them. I can't forgive them for what they've done to this country and how they've distorted MY party...even my liberalism.

Our military is also NOT supposed to be party affiliated because they are protecting Americans.
Interestingly enough, many republicans in the military after serving in war end up becoming democrats because of their own experiences on the battlefield.

chris in mainesaid;

The majority of people who READ the Army times are mid level and higher ranking Enlisted soldiers (NCO's) who have made a career out of it and the officer corps, which are by nature MORE conservative and more repug leaning. A lot of Privates do NOT buy and read the paper so they would NEVER see a poll which is printed in it.
So the lower ranks are probably underrepresented in the statistical totals compared to their real total numbers of the force.
I never bought an Army times in the four years I was enlisted, but bought it every week I was an Officer. As a private I saw little value in it, but as an officer I was expected to read it. Most NCO's are expected to read it also, there is much in it as far as new trends of command and promotion lists which are DA controlled. E-4 and Below are company level promotions which are controlled by regulation so they have little to find in it unless they have decided to make a full career out of the service..
That might be one reason for the skewed results of the poll which Gannet Newspapers who Prints the Army times had in the way they conducted the poll.

Thanks Clif for that information. This must be the same poll and the same place where the neocon chickenhawks have spouted for years that the military has always been republican! Now that I've read your post, I can see where this poll wouldn't be trustworthy to get a real reflection.
All I know is for the past 38 years of my life, republicans have always been the wealthy in this country (in my home town they all lived in the huge homes on the ocean) and the democrats have been the middle class and poor. It's not that democrats are not wealthy. They seem to serve and join the military more than their republican counterparts in my experience throughout the years!

i never got your email kay, something might be wrong.. you sure you are using achorn316@yahoo.com still? if so, im not getting them.
i guess im wrong then. i assumed the poll was of enlisted men, not just officers.
but even so, the death of the soldiers from maine is just as saddening.
